RPC Containers Oakham has achieved another success for its renowned capabilities in in-mould labelling (IML), with the decision by long-standing customer Bird Brand to launch its latest product in an IML-decorated pail.

RPC Containers Oakham has achieved another success for its renowned capabilities in in-mould labelling (IML), with the decision by long-standing customer Bird Brand to launch its latest product in an IML-decorated pail.Manufactured by R K & J Jones Limited, Bird Brand offers a range of preservatives, solvents, wood oils and other decorative products. Its latest launch, Shed & Fence One Coat Protection, offers consumers an effective and versatile wood stain solution that, uniquely, can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer to suit their requirements.
As a longstanding customer of RPC Oakham, R K & J Jones recognises the durability and convenience of its pail solutions and was quick to source a 5 litre container to ensure an appropriate packaging format for Shed & Fence One Coat Protection.
Traditionally, R K & J Jones has opted for printing as its primary means of decoration but, in order to maximise the impact of the new launch, the company decided to switch to IML. “It’s a competitive move in order to benefit from the higher definition in print quality and greater on-shelf presence that IML affords,” explains Richard Jones of Bird Brand.
RPC Oakham has supplied a standard 5 litre container and grey lid, both injection moulded in PP. These are enhanced by the new label design, which features an eye-catching, brightly coloured photograph of a typical product application.
“We have always felt that RPC Oakham provides us with excellent service and support, along with a versatile product,” comments Richard Jones. “The addition of IML to the mix – as proven by the excellent results achieved on Shed & Fence One Coat Protection – gives us further cause to value our long-standing relationship.”
